The birthplace of Renaissance

Being the capital of the beautiful Tuscany region, Florence is known as being home to Renaissance art. The Tuscany region of Italy is known as being the largest focal point of art in the world. Legendary paintings, sculptures, frescoes and legendary architecture is located here. Gourmands will feel right at home here due to large collection of fine wines and Italian cuisine that the region is known for.

Since medieval times, Florence has been known as the center of trade in Europe. This has allowed Florence to flourish and become one of the wealthiest cities in the world. One of the biggest attractions in the city is its Historic Center of Florence that attracts millions of visitors per year. The amazing collection of art made the city to be listed on UNESCO Heritage List.

Florence – a tourist capital

Italy has always been noted for its fashion and Florence is no exception. The city is considered to be one of the fashion capitals of the world like London, Milan or Paris. Florence is economically very strong, and it’s been like that since medieval ages.

Florence has a population of about 380.000 people, but during April and until October, the tourist vastly outnumber the local residents. This makes Florence a hub of modern tourism in Italy. The contributing factor that makes Florence attractive to tourists is its legendary collection of art. This comes in all shapes and sizes like sculptures, architecture, exhibitions, concerts and much more.

Hub of ancient art

In Florence you will find some of the most noteworthy museums in Europe. One of these is Uffizi museum featuring works of artists like Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raffaello and many others. The city hosts many events like concerts, exhibitions, meetings and much more in its renovated convention spaces. The city also features a large number of UNESCO protected areas such as Florence’s old center that is surrounded by 14th century medieval stone walls.

Florence is a place everybody should see at least once, but chances are you will be coming back for more. Florence and its surrounding regions offer so much true Italian spirit in the form of food, entertainment, culture and art that you’ll need multiple visits to soak it all in.
